Images of Florence
In 1954 Cy won a Fulbright fellowship for study in Italy, where he gained his only formal photographic training.
Under the instruction of Renzo Maggini, at the Instituto d’Arte in Florence, Cy began a love of photography and with the city he loves.
One reviewer wrote of Cy’s photographs of Florence, “DeCosse probes the city that he knows so well — poking into the studios of artist friends, arranging still-lifes, making portraits, studying the rustic gates that separate the city’s private and public realms.
Intimate, leisurely and insightful, his photographs reveal a modern city bearing its patina of age with dignity and grace.”
