Geometry
In high school and college, plane and analytic geometry were among Cy’s favorite subjects “because of the way everything fits together,” and he has continued to explore geometric concepts as a form of visual expression. He has a particular affinity for the 30-60-90 triangle and the way this configuration appears in nature, creating a multiplicity of complex forms like the patterns of snowflakes. Cy calls these triangles “nature’s brick” and has used them to create a series of abstract flowers, even an entire garden inspired by the famous White Garden at Sissinghurst Castle in England. See Nature’s Brick video to the right.
